Unlike bouquets, the flowers in a flower arrangements are inserted into floral foam which is filled with water. The floral foam has in fact the same purpose as the stem of a flower to keep the flower alive; it absorbs water. One of the advantages of using floral foam is that it can hold a large amount of water, which means the flowers are provided with water for a much longer period of time.
Water the arrangement
The florist filled the floral foam with water and flower food while arranging the flowers. Therefore, you don’t have to give the arrangement flower food yourself anymore. It is important, on the other hand, to water the arrangement every day or every other day. This depends on the season and the condition of the flowers. Check in advance if the floral foam is still moist, in order to be sure the flowers won’t get too much water. When watering the flower arrangement you can use a watering can with which you pour the water from above into the middle of the arrangement.
